Privacy Policy

A11y Scan is built by YantraKit Inc. and is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy covers both the Chrome extension and the website at a11yscan.yantrakit.com.

Chrome Extension

Data Collection

The A11y Scan Chrome extension collects zero data. Specifically:

  1. No personal information is collected, stored, or transmitted.
  2. No browsing history is accessed beyond the active tab being scanned.
  3. No analytics or telemetry is sent to any server.
  4. No cookies are set by the extension.
  5. No network requests are made to external servers. All scanning runs entirely in your browser using the axe-core library.
  6. No data leaves your browser. Scan results, manual review state, and configuration are stored in local browser storage only.

Permissions

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

  1. activeTab — to scan the page you are currently viewing when you click Scan.
  2. scripting — to inject the axe-core scan engine into the page.
  3. storage — to save your scan configuration and manual review state locally in Chrome.
  4. sidePanel — to display scan results in Chrome's side panel.
  5. tabs — to detect tab changes and manage per-tab scan results.
  6. windows — to resize the browser window during multi-viewport scanning.

These permissions are used exclusively for accessibility scanning. No permission is used to collect, transmit, or monetize any user data.

Remote Config

The extension fetches a small configuration file from a public GitHub Gist once every 24 hours. This file contains the current extension version number and default scan settings. No personal data is included in this request. The Gist URL is hardcoded and does not change.

Report Exports

When you export reports (JSON, HTML, or PDF), the files are generated entirely in your browser and downloaded directly to your computer. No data is sent to any server during export.

Website

Analytics

The website at a11yscan.yantrakit.com uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics collects anonymized usage data such as page views, session duration, and referral source. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.

Support Form

If you submit a message through the Support page, your name, email address, and message are sent to the YantraKit Admin system for review. Attached screenshots are stored in Vercel Blob Storage. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry or report. It is not sold, shared, or used for marketing.

reCAPTCHA

The Support form uses Google reCAPTCHA v3 to prevent spam. reCAPTCHA may collect hardware and software information and send it to Google for analysis. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

Tools

All accessibility tools on the website (Contrast Checker, Focus Order Visualizer, etc.) run entirely in your browser. No HTML, URLs, or content you enter into these tools is sent to any server.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted on the website.
